| I agree Klein, plastic is very versatile. I use it for the bathroom garbage cans, packing food, to keep toiletries from spilling during travel, etc. I think the list could be endless!! |

Hi Kira & Klein,
When I shop I try to pack half into plastic & half into my cloth bag. The plastic bags I always reuse as my garbage liner bags. If we didn't bring them home with our shopping we would have to buy them to line the garbage. At fruitshop I pack into a box & then I can reuse it for vegetation cleanup.

| When I posted this one- I thought it would definitely lean towards plastic-- this morning yet another use-- it was pouring rain so I had the kids put thier school shoes in doubled layed pastic store bags-- so they would get the backpacks dirty and then they could put thier wet shoes in the bags when they changed. It is great to see that others are into recycling too. |

LOL!! It's pretty cool when things go the way you think they will.
It is rare that I get paper bags, unless the store is out of plastic, which really stinks! |

Not so much how I personally thought it would go-but more a sign of the times. When I was a kid I remember folding the paper bags and putting them in a drawer. Now there is a cabinet in my kitchen that explodes with plastic bags each time it is opened  |

| I chose plastic because of all its uses, but I also like to get paper bags sometimes for my cats to play in. |

My cats have done that--it is so funny to watch them make a running dash- and to watch the sack go up and down in the air. They act like they have gotten into the catnip  |

Doing some research the other day gave me a surprise.
Normally, i'd choose a paper cup for coffee and stuff....
Untill i found out that plastic cups (polystyrene in particular) are FAR more environmentally friendly, IF collected for recycling..
The reasons being that paper cups are not recyclable due to the glue used in production, plus most are wax coated meaning they bio-degrade VERY slowly...
Polysytrene can be recycled into a multitude of different products. The companies who do the recycling illustrate this by selling pencils made from vending cups! |

Paper
Simple because our main industry has been closed for about 1 year now Which of course is a Pulp and Paper mill.
Plastic is drastic
Let's see you go to the potty with plastic wipes
Sorry for the above comment couldn't help myself.
I recycle as well and realize the hazards of not doing so. |

| Wow fussy, that's something that you wouldn't think about now is it! Interesting. I knew that some types of materials were decomposing slower, and that is one reason why those landfills are full faster. It makes you think a little harder, knowing that information, aobut whether or not you should recycle! |

Hi Fussy,
Thanks for that reminder... I've heard that before.
I use paper bags when I buy my mushrooms... so they dont sweat.
These days a lot of shops are charging 5c if you want a plastic bag.
I usually have my calico bags in the car.... by the time I find a parking spot... get to the shop.. I've forgotton to take them with me. Too many other things buzzing round in my mind.
