I am a smoker, and as you know its now banned in public places in Scotland.
At first I was rather annoyed, but now I see the positive effects it has.
Its a much healthier atmosphere for children and non smokers, and I tend to smoke a whole lot less when Im out cos I cant be bothered going outside usually in the rain!
Although I must add that due to people no longer smoking in pubs clubs etc the owners have now had to buy more air freshners because now the smokey smell has been replaced by the sweaty smell, not quite sure which is worse !!!

I am a smoker and female
My opinion is yes smoking should be banned in public places.
But............
Our Province has gone too far!!!!!!!!!!!
When they ban it in places like the Legion (which we pay to join) andn is a private non profit institution They have gone too far.
They won't even allow us to build away from the main hall a structure with a roof on it for the smokers. Really sucks |

Wow No-Brainer you have had your fair share! I lost my father on May 2, 2006 to Lung Cancer. It was my youngest son's second birthday. He smoked for 40 years and quit cold turkey 14 years ago. He was 71 years old. My mother has COPD from the secondhand smoke and uses an inhaler twice daily.
The rest of our family does not smoke and we cannot handle the smell. I agree that smoking in enclosed public places should be banned. Tobacco related deaths are the #1 cause of death in the United States. I read it on a poster in my doctor's office. This should not be taken lightly. |
