Computer Virus - Beware

Hackers, phishers, trojans, viruses, worms are all part and parcel of the computer virus scenario. Having your computer online can expose your data and your personal information to any type of criminal activity.
Being a newbie doesn’t afford you some particular ‘grace’ period either. Sort of like a time were you’re protected from identity theft, credit card fraud, or a complete computer takeover.
The real internet world doesn’t quite operate like that. You really have to hit the ground running. For instance, when you check your email inbox. Do you preview your messages? You may want to disable that function. Dangerous code may be in the message.
Have you ever received messages claiming to be from your bank, credit card company, or other financial institution? They usually already have that information, why would they ask for it again?
Don’t send a response for requests for info such as card or account numbers, passwords, or other private information. Many times the e-mail looks to have come from the actual company. But don’t be fooled. It’s just a hoax!
They want you to unknowingly part with crucial financial or private contact information. If you send this info you will be vulnerable to credit card fraud, identity theft or credit card theft.
You can call the company that claims to be sending the e-mail and verify the contents of the message with them. My guess would be that they never sent it.
Remember to use the number on your very own statement. Don’t use the number that appears in the e-mail message. That number leads you right into the scammers arms.
